TULSA, OK - Get a clue.
He’s been here for years. He’s not the Colonel from the infamous board
game. The General of The Dogg Pound
Next Generation, Dangerous Rob, is leading the way and pioneering uncharted
waters with his endorsement deal with the luminary Dogg Pound featuring Daz
Dillinger and Kurupt. He keeps pumping
out melodic radio jams like Still Blazin’ and Love the Player
that keep hitting the airwaves. Still
Blazin’ features the entire Dogg Pound Next Generation conglomeration. We can see the reasons why The General
remains strong and climbing the ladder.
Dangerous
Rob, who is also known as D-Rob or D Rowdy, has been in the rap game for 20
years now. He's performed with Chingy,
Chubb Rock, Club Nevaeu, Doug E. Fresh, Dr. Dre, E.P.M.D., Flesh-n-Bone, Ice T,
LL Cool J, Melle Mell, Mike Jones, Mr. Mike, NWA, Ready for the World, Tone'
Toni Tony, Too $hort, Ying Yang Twins and the Young Bloods. Dangerous Rob’s roots run much deeper than
his discography. Last March in 2006,
Dangerous Rob was seen backstage at the Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas with Daz
Dillinger, Kurupt, and Ice Cube. This
weekend alumni D-Rob will be opening up the homecoming party for Langston
University in Oklahoma City. If
that is not enough, he will also be opening for Juvenile on November 10,
2006 at the world-renowned Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
D-Rob’s music
style is simply described as “Middleism” because he is from the “Middle of the
map.” D-Rob further stated, “Middleism is a style that adds a lighter
touch to gangsta rap yet still captures the brutal honesty of gangsta rap.”
From the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany and back to
Tulsa, Oklahoma, there has been a barrage of albums over the years. Dangerous
Rob recorded his first rap record at the age of 15 with a group named
THOB-MOB. He put educational goals
aside and released his second record with the combined forces of Partners-N-Rhyme. The record was distributed nationwide and
featured the hit single "Cold Chillin’ in the Middle.” The popularity of Cold
Chillin’ in the Middle allowed D-Rob to perform with many big named
artists. Dangerous Rob released the
album Bakkk From the Middle and featured the song It's a T-Town Thing.
This song, T-Town Thing ,best represents the
positive direction that his 'Middleism' style is taking him. Dangerous Rob’s next album release was At
Tha Bank and it gained nationwide attention when Murder Dog Magazine rated
it the 8th Best Independent Rap CD in the country. His last two releases were Grind til You Shine and the S.I.S.T.A.
album, which was a compilation of his greatest hits over the last 20 years.
When asked
about his recent successes with Snoop Dogg and the Dogg Pound's newly formed
group, The Dogg Pound Next Generation, Dangerous Rob said, "All of my hard
work and perseverance is finally paying off and being recognized." His
latest album will release this fall.
D-Rob also wants us to know that the
mixtape, radio play, and the video "Cause I'm Black" was only the
first salvo in a series of future projects.
When asked to explain, Dangerous Rob said, "We [FREEDAM Records]
intend to release another video for the song What I'm About, a short film
project with other well-known Oklahoma rappers like Nitro and Young Hustlaz,
plus another Dangerous Rob album in 2007."
